Post by FPV 521 Thu Jun 12, 2008 5:48 am

I havent driven the new cars yet but will be getting a new GT or F6 later this year as they really look the goods to me.
Seen a lot of photos and read a fair bit and I know my decision will be easier to make once I have driven the cars.
Heart says V8, brain says F6.
To me I love the V8 sound, spoiler, stripes, quad exhaust, bonnet etc not to mention the sound but then the F6 is an absolute monster as far as torque and handling go so just for fun vote in this pole as to what car you would have.

I'm a V8 fan mate, but the FG F6 would be a monster and it would be quicker in speed and cornering and that would be enough for Me to change but I hopped in the XR8 Ute tonight and thought.................Shit that V8 sounds the bizz so although My head would say F6 and My heart says V8, I would still buy the V8 because I'm a V8 guy. Very Happy

Plus the FG FPV V8 isn't exactly slow either. Great

F6 for me - the torque delivery is just so linear. If I spent all my time driving around town maybe I'd go back to an 8 so I could listen to it

    Hmm, where to start.
If you love the look of the GT, buy that, 'cos you're going to get out of it and walk a few paces then look back. Now that's what I'm talking about.
The fact is it's more than fast enough.
On the other hand there is the petrol consumption. You are going to get much better l/100km in the 6T.

For me the GT was never going to be fast enough.
Boost is addictive, just like drugs, you just want more and more and more.
    I get 12.2 l/100kms and I really don't spare the accelerator.

Should you wish to mod your ride then the cheap power of the 6T wins every time.

I think you should buy a manual GT.
Would be my choice if I didn't have this addiction. It's a disease you know ;-)

BTW, I voted for the GTP.
'Cos I already had the F6 experience.
If you're going bling go all the way.

Na not yet I am still struggling with it in a good way.
I have a list of "Likes" for each car.
    GT:
V8 sound and it aint exactly slow.
    Bulge.
    GT Stripes.
    Quad exhaust.
    Love the wheels.
Want a manual gear box, sounds good with a V8.
Looks tough and I like that.
    F6:
Really fast. (Almost too much so for me)
    Better balance.
Really suits the auto, would be faster with one but I would like a manual car and the F6 would be more fun in auto form.
    Intercooler looks great.
Thats about where I am at anyway.
I like the look of the GT better as well as the sound but the F6 is a monster so its still pretty much 50/50, might need a coin soon.
If I hadnt driven an F6 I would have had a GT on order a month or two back.
    Decisions Decisions..................
Decision date is October 1 so I have the car by Christmas and can spend a lot of time in it Cool

I'm going V8 manual after the new year mate.

Depending on the season as to what that V8 Ute will be, if its a good season XR8 Ute, if its an awesome season then Pursuit.

I have watched your pain in deciding on what to buy and I have also thought about the Turbo, but I drove My XR8 Ute the other day and thought.........Nar it has to be a V8 for Me. Great

They are both great cars but I'm a V8 person really.

well I drove a FG super pursuit today (bionic, ford nz press one, #3) with mrs Z in the co pilots seat. Very nice, loved the seats. New 315kw engine certainly alot better down low compared to any other boss i have driven BUT both mrs Z and I felt our BF F6 had more go, it certainly pushes you back in the seats more. SP felt very taught and handles very nicely. Was also offered a drive in a F6 310 but was a sold car and was short on time. Drive in SP convinced me will go with F6 but have got drive booked in to confirm when demo one arrives in a couple of weeks.

Further to my comments above I think unless you had lived with an F6 and become addicted to boost the gt or gtp would more than satisfy you.

FPV251 you need to decide what flips your switch more the sound of the boss or the refinement of the F6. At the end of the day you want to be sure cause you don't want to be looking at the one you didn't buy whenever you see one and thinking you bought the wrong one - thats what i did when i bought my second xr8 instead of a turbo

Are You going to take an FG XR6T for a spin Zam just to see if its the same or better than your F6?.

The FG XR6T has an "Over Boost" function that kicks in when You floor it. Twisted Evil

Was going to just so I could compare for a resale point of view if I decide to sell. Had a long talk to the FPV rep who just delivered a F6 310 to Wanganui (350km trip). He normally drives an F6 and is currently driving a force 6. He absolutely raves about the FG. He says the FG XR6T doesn't compare to the BA/BF F6 and that they are still better. His advice was if you want to play (tune etc.) go XR6T otherwise F6.

For me if I decide to change and stay with Ford/ute will be a F6
