    Falcon first five-star Aussie-built car Falcon3

Ford's FG Falcon has become the first Australian car to get a five-star ANCAP crash test rating.

The latest Ford Falcon is the first Australian-built car to win a world-best five-star rating for its crash safety.
The new FG Falcon range achieved the top score in the latest round of the Australian New Car Assessment Program.
The five-star rating matches the Falcon with top luxury cars such as the Mercedes C-Class and puts it ahead of local rivals including the Holden VE Commodore and Toyota Camry and Aurion, which all achieved a four-star rating.
The tests include frontal and side impact collisions and take into account safety features including airbags, electronic stability control and seat belt warnings for every passenger space.

Nice one Jason.... This is pretty interesting as well as an unexpected surprise. I wonder if it will help to encourage large car buyers over to our side once again.

I'd say it might help, plus hopefully Wheels Magazine's COY award would be a bonus too, But the first ever 5 star Aussie built car is something to be proud of too. Thumbs Up

considering the BILLIONS that the other brand spent on development and design of thier car this result is awesome for Ford.

Not all models will have the 5-star though, if you read this:
    From CarAdvice.com:
The official announcement by ANCAP is to be made on Wednesday but unconfirmed reports carried in several Australian newspapers today revealed the results, which are a ringing endorsement of the new Falcon for struggling Ford Motor Company.

The reports indicate that the FG Falcon scored the results in the latest round of ANCAP testing and CarAdvice understands that the Falcon G6E, which recently narrowly won our latest Four Car Comparison Test, was the vehicle to clinch the top safety rating.
It’s major local rivals the Holden VE Commodore and the Toyota Aurion/Camry both scored only four stars when they were tested soon after their release onto the market.
To achieve the full five-star rating a manufacturer must donate a vehicle to ANCAP to undergo the ‘pole test’ and to-date, Holden and Toyota have avoided taking this step.
Ford indicated from the launch of the FG Falcon that it would donate a car for the test, an indication it was confident of getting the elusive five-star rating.
The pole test is the most difficult to pass and side-curtain airbags are a virtual prerequisite for any car to pass this demanding test.
In addition any car wanting to achieve the five-star rating must have Electronic Stability Control as standard and have seat belt warning lights for every occupant.
Ford has side-curtain airbags available as an option on some lower spec models and CarAdvice would expect that these will have achieved a four-star rating, while the higher spec models with the extra airbags as standard will get the five star rating.

Probably only a matter of time before Ford has the side-curtain airbags as standard I would imagine.....Look at what the BA has as standard over the AU and look what the FG has as standard over the BA. I was looking at the spec sheet of an FG XT the other day and reading what that has as standard feature's even over the BA was impressive. Great
