The future of the XR brand Empty The future of the XR brand

Post by FJ Fri Sep 05, 2008 12:31 am

Just had a wee thought the other day. Shocked

When Ford OZ drop the I6 in 2010 will that be the end of the XR6 and XR6 Turbo?. We can sit here and talk about the "Heritage" and what not but soon the XR6 and Turbo's wont have much heritage left.

Tickford are no more and FPV now use their workshops, the cars will be made on the Ford production line with fully imported V6 engines.

At the moment the I6 engines for the XR6, XR6 Turbo and F6 are made at Geelong but that place is closing down once Ford OZ start importing the V6 engines in a couple of years time so there wont really be any real XR6 or XR6 Turbo cars will there?. Embarassed

If we applied your logic then the FPV GT doesn't have any heritage either as the Boss is a new motor and not the same as the original GT's V8

But its made by FPV who took over from Tickford, So there's more "Blood lines" to true Ford Performance Cars there than the up coming XR's.

FPV are all about performance vehicles unlike Ford wouldn't you say?

That's what I'm getting at, there is no Tickford and soon no real XR's as well apart from the XR8.

But will FPV still be making the new pushrod V8 when it comes along in a couple of years time?.

How long and how many GT were made all up before FPV came along then??.

I read somewhere that in 2005 FPV had sold more cars than all the original GT's combined.

The future of the XR brand Empty XR6 and aircon

Post by Klaus Sun Feb 07, 2010 7:21 am

Firstly, I have just bought a 94 XR6 (Tickford 4lt in line 6). I bought the car because of the tickford badge on the bonnet and the engine.
Secondly, I am looking for an aircon compressor and pipes and belt to fit the above car. Can anyone help?
    TIA
