Here are a few photos of the new car.
Drove 400km today and its is getting better and better. This is the best Ford I have owned and by a long way. The build quality is first class and the boss has been given a real heart recharge.
The short shift manual is great, clutch is softer and is a lot easier to get off the mark. Gearing is more functional and there is more equipment than I will ever need so well done Ford.
I had read the reviews and some had said the FG is a face lift but the more I looked around the car on the trip home, most of the bits inside the car has changed so facelift, I think not.
Fords build quality sometimes annoys me a bit but not this time and this is my last car for several years and for a while I thought about getting a different make but the improvements in this model will be enough to see some BMW Merc owners making the switch.

Fricken awesome mate, So your saying that over the BF2 GT the manual is a lot easier to launch and the gear changes are are lot better too?.

Is the short shifting really noticeable too?.

My BF 2 was an auto but my BA2 was a manual and never drove a manual BF2 GT so cant comment on that partiular model and am not sure weather the 6 speed manual had any changes made from BA2 to BF2.
They have shortened the shift up quite a lot (First thing I noticed when I sat in it and was quite surprised) and I found the car to be a lot easier to get moving.
The clutch is softer with a bit more feel and with a buggered knee boy that helps.
The gears almost fall into the right place and the gearbox has lost most of the nothchy feeling my BA2 GT six speed had.
Havent done any hard launches yet. I hadnt even driven a manual FG until today but wanted one and the Hutchies guys are very impressed and said it was a major step forward and there comments came from the FPV launch day in Australia so that made the decision to get one a bit easier and glad I went manual again.

Is that blue the same colour as your last ones mate?? Cool

Yeah I see Team Hutch have a couple of Manual GT's in stock too.

I cant comment on the 6 speed manual on the BA GTs cos My Pursuit Ute was an auto, but on the Cobra you have to give it a little bit of juice when you launch off in 1st so I'd say its still the same as the BA you had although I think it is a different gear box in the BF over the BA and its different again in the FG.

The blue I have now is Sensation.
It is darker than the blue BA2 I had and its colour was shockwave.
This paint has a lot of glitter in it and really finishes it off nicely.

na they finished all that roadworks.
Some really slow drivers though but never mind. If you drove at 111kmh you get a ticket but if you are stuck in a long row of traffic due to the guy in the front doing 70kmh yet that seems to be ok sick
The front end is pretty grubby due to nailing heaps of bugs but nothing a quick clean wont fix.
Right time to head to bed, mind you the seats in the car are really comfy so may head there instead.

So Gav mate.......Have you noticed any difference in power over the BF GT, I know the engine is still a bit tight, but am I correct in saying that your last car had the add on bits to make it 320kw's and Your new GT has the factory 315kw's, so do you think that your new car seems to have more grunt. It would be interesting to know, I was told recently that My 302kw's seemed better than someones bolt on 330kw GT.

I reckon the FG has more grunt than the mods I had, and by a reasonable margin.
Some of the after market guys who sell modded exhausts etc might be telling a fib or two as to power outputs etc but the new exhaust on the FG sounds pretty good when you wind it up.
They have given the engine a better breathing set up this time, the gearbox ratios are different and it feels faster in all gears.
Its seems to go around the speed dial quite quickly as well but I wont comment on that here Cool
Was told to keep it under 4000 rpm for the first 750 kms below 4500rpm through to 1500km and then what ever after that.
Have just passed 750km so it will be a while before I can wind it up but I see the cut out rpm figure has gone from 6000 rpm through to 6500 rpm so cant wait to hear that Smile

That's good to know mate.......750km in 4 days, let Me guess, Nelson and back (The long way) and showing it off to all your mates?? Laughing

I have had the Cobra up to the rev limiter a few times mate and nothing better than hearing the warning beeps as you reach 6000rpm's

I think they lifted the revs up for the 302kw to 6000rpm's and the 290kw GT's only went to 5500rpm's. plus they increased the torque by 20nm and 250rpm's. So now your GT has 1000rpm's more to play with than a BF GT mate. Great

You are pretty close, the trip home from Christchurch is in that as well and yes Nelson the long way (great road) as well as a few other trips out and about with my wife.
Hardly and of the boys have seen the car yet, I dont make a point of showing it off but a few will want a burn.
Here are a few more shots I took today. Cool

Just a thought I have. Shocked

I reckon FPV should have added another feature to TFT screen and put digital gauges in there like the new Nissan GT-R has, with the Nissan You have all the features like You do with the FPV but by pushing a button they also have the gauges and other things like the suspension set up and I think You can even get a reading of how hot your tires are....FPV wouldn't have to go that far but pushing a button and having things like Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, and Volts and what not would be cool I reckon. Great
