Well, at nearly $1000 I don't think many people would want to go and replace it. In that case Tony has done alright, he has done about 55k, so as long as BP pay up like they said they are going to, he won't have to worry and it's cost him nothing into the bargain. Very Happy

Place car on hoist. Dsiconnect battery.Lift car. Remove out going fuel line. Drain fuel tank. One at this point should fill the tank with water to remove fumes but no one actually does this. Locate fuel pump. Remove fuel pump. Look very closely at fuel pump. If you know nothing about what a good fuel pump looks like then take it to someone who does. If that person says there is no problem reverse above procedure. If there is a problem then spend heaps on a new one.

Just don't go there aye! This business about having to replace them at 75000, I've never heard of anyone doing it with any cars. My Nissan had done about 117,000k when I sold it and I never had any probs with the fuel pump, or saw anything about it in the Nissan manual. I would think that if it was worn out it would start playing up a bit, but wouldn't shut down completely. Neutral

I must admit, it's something I've never thought about until now when Tony's one stuffed up with the contaminated petrol. fuel pumps - Page 2 983177

Thank you Jeff. That's a brilliant answer. Thumbs Up I mean everything wears out eventually so better to keep on to it than not at all.Cheers.

I think you will find it means Fuel Filter.

Oops, I think it was the filter not the pump. But read the manual anyway, you never know what you'll find. Very Happy
